The Board of Trustees of the Helmut-Hentrich-Foundation awarded a 5,000 Euro travel bursary on 25 June 2007 to Sascha
Bohnenberger. This is the third time that the architectural bursary for
excellence has been awarded. Sascha Bohnenberger studied architecture at the University of Kassel under Prof. Georg Augustin and
was judged best in his year for his work in Construction and Design. His final
thesis project was designing emergency shelters for conflict zones; part of
this involved developing an additive glass-fibre module, known as the
“a.t.u.s.” (all-terrain
unit for rescue and shelter).
The Helmut-Hentrich-Foundation was established in 2001
by Dr. Helmut Hentrich (1905 – 2001) architect and founder of HPP Architects to
encourage particularly talented architectural students by funding educational
trips through Europe. The recipients are
chosen by independent juries, usually made up of professors of architecture
from various universities. Sascha Bohnberger’s work was judged to have been
particularly precise and thorough. His final thesis project was judged to have
been the University
of Kassel’s best
architectural project in 2006.
