Hans Lotz was born in Nordheim/Meiningen in 1950. Following training at the Technikerschule in Stadthagen he took a degree in architecture, specialising in building design at the University of Kassel. He then went on to study for a further degree in architecture specializing this time on operational construction management and project management under Prof. Dr.-Ing. W. Rösel. Lotz was head of the department of plant and architecture and also of the department for construction management at AGIPLAN in Mülheim an der Ruhr from 1980 to 1991. He has been head of project management at HPP Bau- und Projektmanagement since 1992 and managing director of the Berlin and Düsseldorf offices since 1994. Since 2011 Lotz is head of project management and managing director of the HPP International Planungsgesellschaft mbH.
