All the information on the members of the German state pension scheme from four states is administered from the German Accounts Centre in Moeckern, Leipzig. The client therefore had extremely high security requirements that had to be fulfilled, from conception right through to construction. The design for the extension provides a well-conceived link to the existing building, extending the office spaces and providing a secure IT area. The design concept was based on the request that hitherto invisible working processes be made visible. This was achieved by extending the printing and mail processing and drawing this through the existing building into the new low-rise building and including the central entrance and foyer that also function as the security gate.
