BEMA have commissioned HPP to design a prestigious new office and retail
building in the centre of the Elberfeld district of Wuppertal, at the
Ohligsmuehle suspended-railway station.
The 5 to 6 storey complex with 18 200 m² of GBA consists of several
staggered wings that are integrated into the existing urban context by means of
open planted courtyards. The appearance of this new commercial building is
characterised by sculptural elements of fairfaced concrete with floor-to-ceiling
windows and was designed in accordance with the guidelines of the DGNB (German
Sustainable Building Council). The flexibility of use and generosity of the
building means it is one of the more desirable new addresses in Wuppertal’s Talachse.
