Shifts from open to closed surfaces and from light to shadow accomplished
via jetties and setbacks are what lend this building ensemble its unmistakable personality. The project’s physical context is characterizes by the open con-
struction of freestanding mansions and parklike open areas boasting a number of landmark-protected buildings. These elements are interpreted in a particularly contemporary way. The flight of stairs to the garden also conveys a meaningful gesture to the building structure.
