For 175 years the Breidenbacher Hof’s name was synonymous with the highest level of hotel comfort. However, the building was eventually shut down and then demolished in 1999 due to its decrepit state. The new Breidenbacher Hof now stands on the very same location that its historical predecessor once did, on the west side of the Königsallee in Düsseldorf in the context of the urbanistically important ensemble of the Wilhelm-Marx-Haus, the Carschhaus, and the Kauf-
hof an der Kö.
Today the new building, which was completed in 2008, is once again one of the best hotels in Düsseldorf. In addition, the nine-storey structure has also space for upscale retail stores and well-appointed offices, as well as a total of eighteen luxury apartments, whose sizes range from 110 to 330 square meters, on the upper three stories.
