The new building, whose design won first prize in the project’s competition,
is located on the bank of Xanten’s South Lake. The typology of the house with
a courtyard used for this building establishes connections between the new structure and Xanten’s Roman history and archaeological excavation sites.
The two-story building is equipped with a wooden façade with story-high win-
dow elements. Another sustainable feature of the design is the environment-
ally compatible wood pellet heating unit.
