The guiding principle behind our design is to view the library as a three-dimensional, public space. Two accessible spiral ramps curve upwards from Dalbergplatz via all the floors and meet on the roof terrace. Dominated by the materials of wood and glass and an abundance of media technology, the library communicates with the city and its users, and can already be explored from the outside. The entire space is based on the concept of a futuristic spatial continuum of flexible design, characterised by locations for meetings, communication and work.
