In addition to political talks with Premier Li Qiang, Vice Premier He Lifeng and a dialogue between the Federal Chancellor and President Xi Jinping, the programme offered exciting insights into innovation and future technologies – including a visit at Mercedes-Benz (with a presentation of autonomous vehicles), Unitree Robotics (with impressive humanoid robots) and Siemens Energy (site for high-voltage switchgear). HPP was able to contribute its own experience from the development of major innovation and technology sites in Germany and China to the discussions.
The HPP-projects in China also formed the basis for the dialogue: in Beijing, HPP was responsible for the design of the Xiaomi Research and Development Centre. In Hangzhou, the Alibaba Cloud Valley Park was realised, Cainiao Cloud Valley is nearing completion and work on the City Green Core of Future S&T City is ongoing.
A cultural highlight of the delegation's trip was the visit to the Forbidden City. Chancellor Merz wished Germany and China speed, strength and energy and ‘a year of cooperation and growth’.
