The SPIC Shangdian Tower was built on a very compact site with stringent planning regulations. The building consists of a five-storey podium, a green courtyard and a 13-storey tower block. The focus was on the vertical façade elements - they change their thickness depending on their position at the corners of the building up to the centre of the building, thus creating a changing transparency in the atrium. On the west and south sides, some aluminium panels were replaced with photovoltaic curtain wall elements with crystalline silicone BIPV technology. This generates over 100 kWp of electricity and significantly reduces energy consumption.
