Planning for the district began back in 2015, with HPP taking on the integration planning. A new shopping and leisure center has been built on a gross floor area of around 410,000 square meters, complementing Hamburg's city center with mutual appeal and attractiveness. The “Südliche Überseequartier” combines living, working, shopping, dining, and various other leisure activities—with the Overseas Boulevard at its heart, where visitors can stroll from the city to the Elbe River and experience a mixed-use quarter with plenty of highlights! A few days ago, for example, the “Independence of the Seas,” a 340-meter-long cruise ship, docked at the cruise terminal and became an eye-catcher on the waterfront. And in June, a concert by Rita Ora took place, transforming the Südliche Überseequartier into an open-air stage.
