Future-Oriented Sports Architecture Forum at SAIC Motor Pudong Arena

As one of the Shanghai International Architectural Culture Week series events, the “Future-Oriented Sports Architecture” forum was successfully held at SAIC Motor Pudong Arena designed by HPP on 24th of September.

This forum was guided by ASSC (The Architectural Society of Shanghai China), hosted by HPP and AISA (Shanghai Architectural Design & Research Co., Ltd.), and supported by ASC (The Architectural Society of China) Sports Architecture Branch and ASSC Urban Design & Planning Committee. In addition to high-profile guests from politics such as the German Consulate General in Shanghai Consul Maximilian Hallensleben, renowned experts from the sports, real estate and architecture industries attended the event. Innovations and future developments in national and international stadium architecture were discussed as part of an extensive programme of lectures and panels.

The event was moderated by HPP Partner Yu Wei, and keynote speeches were given by HPP Partner Jens Kump and HPP Associate Partner Feng Zipeng. In addition to the design and functional added values of the SAIC Motor Arena, the topics of emotion, identity, multifunctionality and resilience of the stadium architecture were discussed. The visitors were able to observe for themselves the successful project realisation during a guided tour through the arena. In the future the building will not only be the home ground of Shanghai Port FC, but also a place for community, leisure and entertainment.
