In addition to the already opened nh hotel with 197 rooms, additional retail and catering space will be realised in the new building, which will extend the Petersbogen, a multifunctional shopping arcade completed in 2001 according to plans by HPP. HPP partner Sebastian Helm, together with Lord Mayor Burkhard Jung and Senior Planning Officer Dorothee Dubrau, among others, ceremoniously cut the red ribbon, thus marking the structural completion of the arcade building and, at the same time, the closing of the 22-year gap in the cityscape. "After a long wait, the youngest square in our inner city is being given a face again - an attractive, beautiful face, which we have the privilege of opening today. The building ensemble blends beautifully into the cityscape and urban environment," says Jung. Upon completion, one more important building block lost during the war will be returned to the dense ensemble of buildings in the inner city. The original eastern border of the castle square is restored in its entirety and the square is recognizable in its entirety as a rectangular plaza.
