HPP is partnering with Madaster Germany

The ‘circular thinking‘ mindset is to become integral to all HPP projects, so that, within this new understanding of architecture, design solutions can be identified which create sustainable added value for the client, the user and the environment. In Madaster Germany, HPP has a strong partner by its side to help achieve this goal.

The global online platform Madaster – a materials register – enables a web-based materials passport to be created for a building. The materials passport allocates identities to the products and materials used in the construction and evaluates them with regard to their environmental impact. This prevents them remaining anonymous and ending up as waste at the end of their life cycle. The linking of Madaster to the materials exchange and the consequent monetisation of the residual value of raw materials over the whole life cycle of the building is one of the keys to bringing circularity into the construction industry. Madaster offers an opportunity to allocate a real value to the resources used in construction by linking them to the digital twin created by HPP, in effect making the building into a long-term store for raw materials.

“Thinking and acting in cycles is the way ahead in the building industry! We have to start to complete these cycles. The goal is clear – what is important now is to implement specific solutions to establish a permanent circular economy. By participating in the Madaster partnership, we can support this through the effective application of tools, experience and ideas,” says HPP Senior Partner Antonino Vultaggio. In a Madaster Germany video, he explains the added value that membership represents and how such added value has already been illustrated in the HPP pilot project The Cradle, the first building in Germany to be registered on the Madaster platform.
