Once completed, LEON 11 will be an eye-catcher in the cityscape thanks to its elaborate façade design. The high design standard of the façade is more reminiscent of a new building, but LEON 11 is a core refurbishment with the addition of two storeys. The project is about responsible, sustainable building. The conscious decision to use the substance of the existing building instead of demolishing the former hotel avoids grey energy and significantly reduces CO2 emissions: 1.6 million kWh will be saved - equivalent to the annual energy consumption of 200 people. Combined with intelligent building technology, including a heat pump and its own photovoltaic system on the roof, LEON 11 is highly energy efficient. The project is a good example of how environmentally conscious construction in existing buildings can help shape the future of architecture and create timeless, modern design.
