The design gives the Westfalenhalle, a listed building, an urban counterpart that places the focus of the fair more strongly in the centre of Dortmund and at the same time lends the building a clear and dynamic identity. This new building has significantly improved the internal infrastructure of the exhibition grounds for exhibitors and visitors and has also improved orientation. The opening of the trade fair foyer thus marks the start of a process of continuous further development of Dortmund as a trade fair location.
