Work Environments HPP Headquarters Düsseldorf

Space for Our Own Future

The new HPP work environments in Düsseldorf’s Medien Hafen respond to the challenges of our time: more space, more flexibility and places that support well‑being and creativity. Designed for the in‑house team, they are the spatial translation of what defines HPP and enable the development of the practice’s culture and co‑creative way of working.

By HPP for HPP with flexibility for ongoing development and collaboration

“Studio character” creates communicative spaces for agile working, innovation, creativity, and discourse

Mixed‑use building: the architecture, which also incorporates residential and gastronomy uses, was likewise designed by HPP

The HPP work environments span three floors of the new mixed‑use building and offer spaces for agile working and for formal and informal communication: conference and project rooms, hubs, phone booths, seating niches, and podiums. Open spaces alternate with areas for retreat, providing staff with the right setting for different tasks and requirements.

Along the open staircases, communicative hubs with open kitchens and seating landscapes connect all levels as places for exchange, spontaneous meetings, events, and breaks. Together with the planted courtyard, a wide range of spatial settings ensures that HPP’s collaborative working culture can be lived and experienced.

The light, muted colours soften the clarity of HPP’s black‑and‑white corporate identity in the interior and define the open “studio character” of the office. Height‑adjustable sit‑stand workstations, acoustically optimised ceilings, and bespoke built‑in furniture create a friendly, productive atmosphere that places people at the centre.

A transparent glass cube makes the building part of the public realm. The HPP Lounge “Hentrich’s” on the ground floor acts as both a meeting point and stage: lectures, after‑work events, and exhibitions are held here, both internally and externally. In this way, the headquarters becomes not only a workplace but also an impulse generator for public discourse on the future of architecture and the city.
